Silly, Tired, Gal

Busy days makes for one tired Gal!

being tired means doing things

on "auto pilot" rather than thinking

things through.  Tonight was one of those.

Using my garage door opener, I opened

the garage door to pull in the recycle bin

then pushed the button for the door to close

and stepped inside.  But why? I thought

is the garage door still running??

I stepped into the garage and here the door is

wide open.  So I pressed the button and

watched the door come 3/4 down, stop and

then run itself back up again.  Mind you,

normally I would be checking things out

but my mind is tired with a capital T!

So I pressed the button twice more,

and yes, watched the door go down,

then back up without closing.

Turns out, the small piece of rope

that I use if the power goes out

was getting in the way of the signal

causing the door to reopen to prevent

something being caught under the door.

Silly me!!  and thank goodness it wasn't broken!

Silly Things

May you find

the balance of life,

time for work

but also time for play.

Too much of one thing

ends up creating stress

that no one needs in their life."

-Catherine Pulsifer

Hello, My Friend!

Yes, I'm still here, and yes, still overly busy

with work and dealing the stuff we call life.

And in my usual weirdness, as I'm creating

this post, I'm also usually busy googling

things - because one thing leads to another!

Am I addicted?

not like I used to be, but I still find myself

looking up things I never thought to look up!

Today I was looking for a quote about being tired.

I just got done with another 11-day stretch of work

and only have today off.  So after my shower,

I slipped out to watch the sun set.  Always gorgeous

here in the Valley of the Sun!

But what I found amazing?  Is a photo of a woman's

bedroom where she had decorated the area above

her bed by hanging hats on the wall.

For years I have hung all my hats on display

(and thought I was nuts for doing so!)

But if you Google "Hats on bedroom wall" .....

I.  Am.  Not.  The.  Only.  One! ! !

lmao.  The silly things I find on Google!

Rise Above

Don't get mad.  Don't get even.

Do better.  Much better.

Rise above.

Become so engulfed

in your own success

that you forget

it ever happened.

I don't know who said that, but it's been my mantra.

I work with a person who is very ... toxic.

And as is the case when these types realize they

can't control you, they change tactics and try to

undermine you, your actions.

I am a supervisor;  I was asked by management

to travel to another facility to do some training.

When the time arrived, I checked in with management,

and went on my way.  When I returned, my manager

told me how this person approached her and stated that

I left the building without saying where I was going.

She said, "Yes.  But she reports to management, not to you."

He sputtered about it, and she walked away.

When I returned, he said "You should have told me you

were leaving, it's the courteous thing to do."

I stood tall, bit my tongue, and just nodded silently.

On Monday of this same week, as I was going about my

job, he walked up and started spouting off about how

the AZ Cardinals beat the SF 49ers in football.  I just

shrugged (I'm not watching NFL games this year).

Another co-worker said "Good morning, Lynne" and I

answered "Good morning" back to her.

And again he spouts off, talking to her as if I'm not

standing there at all and says "YOU got a good morning,

I don't even get a hello, this must be ignore Elvis week."

Again.  Stand tall.  Bite my tongue.  Nod and walk off.

After 5 years of this type of behavior,

it's the only thing I can do to save my own sanity.

** Thank you, my friend, for sharing this toxic person message with me!

Love Chooses

Remember that you don't choose love;

love chooses you.

All you really can do is accept it for all its mystery

when it comes into your life.

-Kent Nerburn

Hello again, my friend!

It's been a busy week, a long stretch of non-stop work days

with a badly sprained pinky toe, causing a swollen foot and

broken blood vessels.  But it's healing.

I chose this quote because it reminds me of a toast from "Frasier"

An obsession kicked in and I'm watching the series over yet again

And now I know why.   It has to do with not wanting to get married

but doing it anyway; of hoping a Knight in White Armor would

rescue me and declare his love.  (Only in fairy tales, right?)

It finally kicked in why I like the episodes where Niles

wants Daphne, and Daphne runs out on her own wedding.

I realize now that if I wanted something different, it was

up to me to find the nerve to choose.

I didn't.  Daphne did.

And I applaud her.

And while it's somewhat of a (comedic) fairy tale .....

Love fuels the reason(s) to go after your dreams.

They won't come to you without your own efforts.

Creative Art

“Creativity takes courage. ”

“What one does in one's art,

that is the breath of one's being.”

― D.H. Lawrence

Every now and then I get to
wondering about the why's
of my blog --
and realized that I don't really
care about the why's
or any other reason
for doing what I do .....
except to please myself.

I know that there are times
when it's hit and miss for
postings - so thank you for
checking in on a regular basis.

My sole reason for what I do
has everything to do with my
being creative.  Of course, I
also hope that seeing my images
makes you smile from time to time :)

This was an experiment using
a doily in front of the lens .....
it's like you're peeking in on me!!!

Holidays

i took leave of my senses.....
at least that's what i told
myself after i broke down
and bought another tree!!

i didn't have it in me to put
up my usual tree, but there
was a sale so i nabbed this
little tree for the window.

the holidays aren't the same
any longer once you work
behind the scenes, dealing
with all aspects of holiday
trappings, and of course,
the customers who can be
downright rude this time
of year.

But I try to make
the best of things!

On the plus side, i am learning how to
use a Nikon D3000, and while selfies aren't
as easy as with my Canon ....  I can DO this!
hehehehe

Pedicure'd

ahhh, feet!

“Your feet will bring you to where your heart is.”
-- Irish Proverb

I haven't posted in a while
my feet and i have done some
traveling ...  there's nothing like
a good vacation to bring you back
to where you want to be, yes?
Life is good and relaxing for the
moment, and that's just how i like it!

I took an early morning walk through this grove of trees....
it was a gorgeous morning!

and yes, i had a pedicure right before i left :)

Negative Space

A quick series of poses.... the topic for the day was "negative space".  So I left lots of  yard, and didn't make the focus only me.  Too quick to call this some of the best... but I like the way the hair is moving in the second picture, and the sway of the nightie in the third.
Tis Monday..... *sigh*

Worse, or Better?

“Just when you think

it can't get any worse,

it can.

And just when you think

it can't get any better,

it can.”

― Nicholas Sparks

Life is funny that way, one minute you're thinking
"holy cow" -- what next???
Then things turn around again,
and its much better than it was....
thank goodness!

Thoughts on a Hat

"When you wear a hat,

it is like medicine for the soul.

The hat is the expression of

who you are as a woman

in every moment!

The hat is your dream

of who you can be.

It facilitates the different parts

of who you are:

With the wave of the hat, voila!

You are mysterious...

no, you are sexy...

now proper...

now playful."

Not a lot of women wear hats these days;
here in the Valley of the Sun, you see three
kinds:  a cowgirl hat, a baseball cap, or a
sun visor.  While i don't wear them often,
i have always been a fan of hats, and have...
(yes, i'm looking over and counting them
right now....)  ...yes, i have 15 hats hanging
in an arrangement on my bedroom wall. :)

Red Hat

"Women wearing hats are at once

sophisticated and whimsical...."

just a little Friday fun times
as the sunshine streamed
in my window.

Happy Weekend to you!

And if you're a sporting fan.....
who will you root for in the Superbowl?

Be Different

“Don't dare to be different,

Be daring, be different,

Finest Pleasures

“The finest of pleasures

are always

the unexpected ones.”

― Erin Morgenstern,
The Night Circus

Thought it might be fun

to be a little different....

yes, I know, these

aren't 'nudes'

but I can honestly say

I was naked underneath

my clothes!

*giggles*

it almost looks like

the circus came to town!

I should have had a

Top Hat to complete

the picture!

Shorts

Good morning --
it's Sunday,
and I'm up before the sun.

A hot day ahead
here in the
Valley of the Sun

I've been full of
introspection lately
i guess that's what
you'd call it
trying to figure out
the where's and why's
of life and love,
where its been,
where its going,

all while trying to
enjoy the moments
as well.

Life sure isn't easy
at times,
there are hard roads
for all of us.

In the book of life,

the answers

aren't in the back.

 ~Charlie Brown

It's HOT!

Hello there,  from a

very hot corner of the USA

I bet we broke records today
my backyard thermometer
read 120+  and my car readout
showed 117 at 5:30pm.

WAY too hot to do much of anything.
Yes, my house has A/C,
but when its this hot, its difficult to
feel as if you want to do very much.
I hope its cooler in
your part of the world

Happy weekend!
