From Old to New

An optimist

stays up til midnight

to see the new year in.

A pessimist

stays up til midnight

to make sure the old year leaves.

- Bill Vaughn

... and a retail worker

goes to bed on time

because retail never stops!!

hahaha

Thoughts on a new year;

and on the year that has passed.

It's been a rough ride this year.

My cousin died; a good friend

committed suicide.

I'm still alone.

and even though that's my choice,

there are some days that it's

not always .... enjoyable.

Every "diet" that I started

ended before I made any progress.

With each new year, we're supposed

to learn from our mistakes and

make the new year even better.

So that's my goal.

To eat healthier, to be healthier

to get regular exercise

and to take more photos.

Happy New Year, my friend!

Old Ends

"So I close my eyes

to old ends

and open my heart

to new beginnings"

-Nick Frederickson

Here we are, the end of 2018.

Was it everything you hoped for

when we started this year?

The last two weeks of December

are always the hardest for me.

As we grow older,

our gains and our losses increase.

Sometimes, we focus on the gains

so we don't have to dwell on the losses.

But it's in this time that I tend to think

of all the losses.

I'm ready for January and a new year,

a time of new beginnings,

and I'm hoping for

a few new gains along the way.

Here's to a new year, a new chapter.

A New Day

The sun rises

with every new day

When things aren't going well

You can count on the sun to rise

Each new day is a new beginning

It's up to us to make the most of them

It's been a chaotic two weeks for me

and with each day,

with each challenge that cropped up

I got to the point where I had to take

things one small step at a time.

Lunch hours became that little window

of time where I could deal with one task each day.

Making a phone call.

Having papers notarized at the bank.

Dropping papers off at the FedEx office.

It was "one day at a time" against my To Do list

Thursday's lunch hour was spent at a Dealership

Walking among a "sea of Cruzes", I spotted The One.

Way in the back, because that's just how my luck is!

3 cars had to be moved so I could test drive

It had enough options to please, without extra options I'd never use

(like a moon roof).  The paint job is called Pepperdust -

a little gold metallic over this light grey paint.

Three hours later, I was back at work, happy with my new purchase

.... and a slight dread over having car payments again!

But with each new day, each new challenge, I'll make it work. :)

Toss It!

They say if you

throw away old things

you make room

for new things.

Or maybe it's

if you want something new

throw away the old.

Either way the saying goes,

it has become my mission lately.

I'm trying to clean things out,

make room for new.

Or maybe it's more that I'm

cleaning things out so my kids

won't have to ..... later.  lol

So a photo shoot with old things that are being tossed!

Birthday Post

Y'all are so lucky, a second post from me today!

Here it is, July 30th.
Yesterday was my birthday.
Its never been a big deal for me;
having a birthday in the summer meant
that most often, kids weren't around
for any kind of party. Perhaps that's
where my own feelings about
not celebrating birthdays comes from.

So its the big 55 - double nickels.
Others might fret over the "big" numbers -
turning 30, 40 or 50
i never have.
age is just a number, and not a true
reflection of who you are as a person
or what your life is about.

i can honestly say that
i don't feel 55 - at least
mentally!  i can also state
that my body has its days
where  it says "yep, we're
really gettin' that old!" lol

i was reading the other
day just a random
fictional story about a
young girl - and a wise
woman told her this:

"When a chapter of your Life Book is complete,
your spirit knows it's time to turn the page
so a new chapter can begin.  Even when you're
scared or think you're not ready, your spirit
knows you are."

if you look back on your life, you can see
chapters that begin and end, only to begin again.
i don't know about you, but this feels like
a new chapter for me .....
and i'm ready!
