This has been one heck of a birthday.
I live in the Valley of the Sun
where it was 114 degrees today.
And my AC quit.

Actually, it had quit 2 days before.
I called the company I use, they sent out
a tech at 10:45pm -- it was still 106 degrees
at that time -- and I'm still chuckling over
that one.  She walks in, looks at the thermostat
and lifts the cover.  Then she lifted a second cover
that I'd never noticed before and she asks
"When's the battery been changed?"
I said "What battery?"

Turns out the thermostat that is hanging on
the wall by the light switch, and is wired into
the wall is NOT powered by electricity but
two double A batteries.   In the six years I've
been in the house, I had no idea!  Boy did I
feel dumb!  lol   She charged me $39.95
for an after-hours service call.  lol

However.  That wasn't my only problem because
Thursday it wasn't working again.  I called the
company and they couldn't send anyone until
midnight.  Ugh.  So Sadie and I packed a quick
bag, and headed to the local motel for some
blessed AC and a good night's sleep.

The repairman was out today and replaced
a blower fan.  It's working awesome now!

I think this is my most expensive birthday ever!!

Another year has come and gone.

Another year older and most days 

I certainly don't feel it!

But on those fewer days, 

the creaks, the groans

things changing, shifting

and even sagging.

But that is life, and 

I accept it as it comes.

I am a free spirit,

and do my own thing,

the years be damned! 

I spent my Day at work. 

My son bought Chipotle for dinner.

Friends called and sent good wishes.

Life is good! 

Another year has come and gone....

and many more to come!

I'm driving home from work and a local
Classic Rock station plays this song.
And of course, I'm singing along - loudly!
(what other way to sing this song??)

And it reminded me that for my 40th
birthday in 1999 I went to a little bar
in Ohio where Quiet Riot was playing -
Lots of loud music and alcohol!
Right before they started their second
set, my girlfriend Sharon walked up
and told them it was my birthday --
lovely serenade -- and plenty of red cheeks!
I was totally embarrassed :)

They were cuuuuute in the 80s! 

There was a "meet and greet"
afterwards, we exchanged a few
words, I think I had something
autographed.... but whatever it
was -- I sure couldn't remember.
hahaha

Birthday Post

Y'all are so lucky, a second post from me today!

Here it is, July 30th.
Yesterday was my birthday.
Its never been a big deal for me;
having a birthday in the summer meant
that most often, kids weren't around
for any kind of party. Perhaps that's
where my own feelings about
not celebrating birthdays comes from.

So its the big 55 - double nickels.
Others might fret over the "big" numbers -
turning 30, 40 or 50
i never have.
age is just a number, and not a true
reflection of who you are as a person
or what your life is about.

i can honestly say that
i don't feel 55 - at least
mentally!  i can also state
that my body has its days
where  it says "yep, we're
really gettin' that old!" lol

i was reading the other
day just a random
fictional story about a
young girl - and a wise
woman told her this:

"When a chapter of your Life Book is complete,
your spirit knows it's time to turn the page
so a new chapter can begin.  Even when you're
scared or think you're not ready, your spirit
knows you are."

if you look back on your life, you can see
chapters that begin and end, only to begin again.
i don't know about you, but this feels like
a new chapter for me .....
and i'm ready!
