Morning Stretch

As the sun begins to rise, it's time for a morning stretch.

and my mind wonders over and over, "is this me still?"

Am I out of practice? Has my creativity waned?

Is there still purpose here?

So many questions ....

Good morning!

Hello, Spring!

Sometimes

the morning light

is just too perfect

for my creative side

to ignore

It's been a while since my last post

because I'm attempting to do "adulting";

to take care of pesky things

that need to be done.

This year I'll turn 60

and the future needs to be addressed.

Or arranged for:   Adulting done!

7am, the sun rises and that first light

is magically golden.

Happy Spring, my friend!

Spring Sunshine

"She was actually learning to love Arizona.

The beauty and color and solitude,

the vastness of it had called to something deep in her...."

Ok... so it's not so "vast" in my own backyard

but still, when I visited Arizona back in 2007,

I felt a calling and knew it would be home.

It took a year to get things rolling, to find a job,

pack up all my things, then load them in a truck

that I would drive cross country, towing my car

behind me!  It was a grand adventure, and

about the scariest thing I've ever done!

But I did it.   It was tough, but mile by mile

until I couldn't drive any longer, I'd stop

for the night, only to carry on and do it all again

the next day.  It took nearly four days to get all

those miles eaten up.  I lived on peanut butter

sandwiches, pretzels and bottled water, because

I never knew where I would stop.  You can't just

pull up to a drive-thru window in one of these things!

It was 10 years ago this month when I did this.

Where does the time go?   It's so hard to believe

it's been this long, and yet I feel as if I just arrived!

My Backyard

Me:   I really want to travel!

My Credit Card:   Like.... to the backyard??

I saw this and found it humorous

because lately it seems I spend most of my time

at home.  In my yard.

And really I'm OK with that!

Travel with Sadie is difficult, at best.

As I grow older, I find that my circle of travel

is smaller.  I don't see the need to be on the go

all the time.  When I was younger, had children,

it seemed I was going somewhere.

Every single day!

So having the freedom to choose to stay home

can be a joyous thing!

What's in your backyard?

Morning Routine

Rise up,

start fresh,

see the bright opportunity

in each day

Sometimes, it isn't easy to do that!

I was watching an old Frazier episode

where he describes his morning routine,

he has to shower and shave, have his coffee,

a high fiber muffin, a touch of yogurt and

an untouched newspaper to read.

If he doesn't have those things, his day is ruined!

And he's finally OK with that part of himself.

It got me thinking about my own morning routine.

I dress and get ready for work, then walk Sadie.

Neither Sadie nor I have a good day when we

skimp on our routine.  It's like having this segment

of things to do, and when they're done, your mind

is fresh to begin thinking and going about your day.

What about you, my friend?  Do you have one, too?

Yoga Morning

"I will pull myself out of bed today.

I have slept enough

I will face all this ugly

with every sense of beauty in my bones."

-mattfoleypoet

No gym today

there are chores to be done

so a little morning yoga

to stretch out the kinks

(yes, hello, Sadie!)

Every morning

we are born again.

What we do today

is what matters most.

-Buddha

My yoga form is far from perfect but it's a

process, i won't get better if i don't practice!

It's taken me 57 years to get into the shape

i'm in, changing that won't happen overnight!

Two weeks into the gym routine, lost 3 lbs.

Which can be gained right back with one very

juicy Bacon Ultimate Cheeseburger!

But that isn't what's important this time.

My goals are simply to become more

healthy.  My treadmill goal started with

1.5 miles in 30 minutes, now it's 27 mins.

It's not much but it's progress!

My Aunt got her wings yesterday; as she told me

she's completed her journey to heaven!

Sending her all my thoughts and love today!

I will miss her dearly.

Monday Mornin' Sunshine

Monday Mornin' Sunshine

It's a beautiful day, and lucky me, no work!

Just a day off before I start a long stretch,

getting things done before a short but

well-deserved vacation.

Gonna pop up and visit with my mom and sis,

get a feel for how things are *really* going

because I think I get a lot of 'fluff' on the phone.

Very typical in my family.  lol

I don't know what the weather is like where YOU are,

but today, it just might reach 90F.  :)

Hello Spring, Summer's just around the corner!

(and another hat - done and gone!)

Waking Up

The best part of waking up ...........

bet you sang that right along with me!

and at my age, the best part of waking up... is waking up!

Happy weekend

Good Morning!

Good morning, world!

Fall has arrived and it's a cool

68 degrees this morning.....

Life has been busy here.

Preparing for a trip, my

aunt and I are traveling

to visit my mom.

Always nice to get away --

even better to come back home!

It's Friday!

Life should not only be lived

it should be celebrated!

-Osho

It's Friday, the weekend is here
so I dashed into the backyard
to enjoy the cool morning air
and the rising sun!

Simple

“simple abundance:

1: an inner journey;

2: a spiritual and practical course
                                     in creative living;

3: a tapestry of contentment”

― Sarah Ban Breathnach

A glorious backyard morning

and a new camera to play with

along with some thoughts from a

fav'd author.  Life has been hectic

and that has to change.

Simple Abundance is what I will

be striving for over the next month.

July is always a reflective month for me,

probably because I'm stuck indoors

as if it were winter.

(As always, Sadie has to be in on the action!)

Be Free

“Maybe some women aren't meant to be tamed.

Maybe they just need to run free

until they find someone just as wild to run with them.

-Carrie Bradshaw”

Morning

“Laugh at yourself,

but don’t ever aim your doubt

at yourself.

Be bold.

When you embark

for strange places,

don’t leave any of yourself

safely on shore.

Have the nerve to go into

unexplored territory.”

 ~ Alan Alda

I have always enjoyed the wit and wisdom
of Alan Alda ... or was I crushing on
Hawkeye Pierce ?

*grins*

I had to replace my worn out TV (finally!)
and now have a "smart" tv.  And I promptly
checked out Netflix - and found they have
the TV series MASH!  I've been on a
binge-watch, but limiting myself to 3 episodes
a day.  Even among the humor and satire of
the show, there's a warmth that exudes from
him - from all of the cast.   Love it :)

A few years back, my local PBS station
carried his series Scientific American.
His voice is soothing, and he's fascinated
by the topics he explored.   I watched every
single episode of those as well.

And my all time fav Alan Alda movie?
Same Time, Next Year.
It's simple, yet complex, I watch it often!
If you haven't seen it -- you should :)
The flashbacks to different decades is fun!

Good

Morning

Beautiful

World!

Ahh a gorgeous
Friday morning
with NO work
for me today!

I'm grateful
for that one
little thing ....

along with the
gorgeous morning
before the
desert sun
sets fire to
the rest of today.

I saw this
wonderful quote
and am sharing:

Happy Friday :)

New Camera

Hello there!

It's been quite the week
for me.   I'm happy to
be back feeling normal,
but that hasn't helped
my week become any
better ......

I swear, I must have
picked up some kind
of magnetic energy -
both my TV and my
camera quit on
the same day!

My camera lasted a
good three years -
which is a long time
for something I use
so often!

And my TV, well, let's
just say it was long
overdue for replacement.
I'm enjoying my new
smart TV!

These are the first shots
taken with my camera.
It will take a little bit
to learn how all the new
buttons and gizmos work,
as every camera is different
even when you buy the
same brand.

Since going digital,
I've worn out 5 cameras
already.  lol

Morning

oh my how good it feels to

sleep in -- even an extra hour

feels awesome!  To be home

and relaxing is the best ever!

But after 3 weeks or so of days

where i'm up before 5am, i was

wide awake, so Sadie and i got

ready and walked in a local park.

It's a beautiful day in the

Valley of the Sun !

What will you do with your day?

Weekends!

Morning sun,

there is nothing

more glorious!

Happy Weekend!

Moments

Good Sunnnnday morning!
I got up today thinking "aha!!
sunshine-y beautiful morning
i should be able to get something...."

and while I took a few,
I'm not pleased.
well.  The photos are OK.
but to me they just look
the same.
over and over again.

Although I found the shadows
to be more fun than selfies. :)

I am trying to be more
photographer than model
and training my eye to be on
the watch for things that
while they may register on
our horizon, we don't actually
take the time to stop and
process what we're seeing.

How many of us walk right
over the top of a manhole cover
and yes, we know its there.
yes, we know it says something on it.
but what? does it register?
have you noticed if there is just
lettering?  or is there a city seal?

Just an example of how we let
the simple things slip past us,
while we worry about things
that aren't in the present moment.

“Life is not made up of

minutes, hours, days,

weeks, months, or years,

but of moments.

You must experience

each one

before you can appreciate it.”

― Sarah Ban Breathnach

just a little thank you
for the recent activity here...
especially from those outside the US :)

New Day

 “Renew, release, let go.

Yesterday’s gone.

There’s nothing you

can do to bring it back.

You can’t “should’ve”

done something.

You can only DO something.

Renew yourself.

Release that attachment.

Today is a new day!”

― Steve Maraboli

Today, many will awaken
with a fresh sense of inspiration. Why not you?

Today, many will open their eyes
to the beauty that surrounds them. Why not you?

Today is a new day!

Many will seize this day.

Many will live it to the fullest.

Why not you?”

― Steve Maraboli
