My Backyard

Me:   I really want to travel!

My Credit Card:   Like.... to the backyard??

I saw this and found it humorous

because lately it seems I spend most of my time

at home.  In my yard.

And really I'm OK with that!

Travel with Sadie is difficult, at best.

As I grow older, I find that my circle of travel

is smaller.  I don't see the need to be on the go

all the time.  When I was younger, had children,

it seemed I was going somewhere.

Every single day!

So having the freedom to choose to stay home

can be a joyous thing!

What's in your backyard?

Az Summers

Arizona:

Where Summer spends the Winter,
and Hell spends the summer!

Where hot water comes out of both taps!

Where you can get a sunburn
through your car window!

Where the best parking space is determined
by shade, not by distance!

When the temp drops below 95F,
you feel chilly!

Where your seat belt makes
a pretty good branding iron!

We joke about our hot summer temps,

and yes, they can be quite hot!

It's been over 112F for 11 days straight,

with no relief in sight.  It's a little early

for this much intense heat, but perhaps

that's an indicator of the amount of rain

we can expect in our monsoons?

So here I sit, looking out instead of being out

in the backyard.  I will have to make time to

water my plants.  Perhaps tomorrow.

Happy Wednesday!

Just for Laughs

Ok.  I'm a blonde.
I can admit it!

The other day, I was on the phone with my mother while driving home from work.

When I pulled into my driveway, shut the car off, I hear this music.... 80's rock ...

Sammy Hagar's song "Heavy Metal" ....  I laugh and tell Mom "I think my kid

is having a party, I can hear rock music!"

I walk into the house, and ask who's got the music going.  My kid looks into the garage,

and says "It's not me!"  We both stand and listen for a minute, now we both hear it ....

Hmmmmmm..... that's odd.

I turn and realize it's coming from my gym bag!

Somehow my MP3 player must have bumped into the ON position ---

I could only hear it when things were quiet :)

Yep.
I'mma blonde :)

PS  I had to look it up.  The "Heavy Metal" song I like listening to was from a movie of the same title, a 1981 Canadian adult animated anthology science fiction fantasy film adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, the film features a great deal of graphic violence, sexuality, and nudity.   --according to Wikipedia. :)

Clouds (humor)

On my last visit to my folks,
I drove out to pick up my
brother, and on the way back
I was impressed by the clouds
and how blue the sky was,
with the white puffy clouds
hanging in the sky.  I shoved
my phone at him and asked him
to snap me a few pictures.
"Of WHAT???" he asked.
The clouds, of course!!  I told him.
He looked at me like I was nuts
(ya'll know I am!)
but he did it anyways, snapping
away.  I posted a few, and my
sister in law asked what was the
deal with me and clouds??
*shrug* I dunno, I just like them!!

They vacationed last week in
Hawaii and my brother sent me
text pix -- all of them clouds!!
And the postcard he sent???
Yep, clouds in that too.  lol
He got a real kick out of me
and my #cloudporn

*grin*

Humor

Lately, I'm noticing that thing I did with ease,
things I took for granted, are now a little
different as I get older. Of course, the first
thing to go was the eyes. Reading used to
be my greatest pleasure. Thanks to large
print books, and the ability to increase the
font on my computers and the kindle, I can
still have this pleasure, its just adjusted a
little bit. But with reading glasses, it all
works out fine. Well, mostly fine.

When I send or receive a text message on
my phone, I need my glasses. I keep both
my glasses, and my phone, next to my bed
at night -- in case I get some all important
message ... Saturday morning, I'm slowly
waking up, it's early, and my phone beeps,
I have a new text.  I grab my glasses and
stick them on, and try to read my phone.
And I'm thinking "Maaaan, either my eyes
are really tired, or I need to get them checked.
I can barely see my phone this morning!!"
Squinting away, I answer my text and roll over
to catch just a few more minutes under the warm
snuggly covers. Later, when I was fully awake
and getting up, I look over at my phone,
and the glasses I'd tried to read my phone with.
I had myself a really good laugh when I realized
that I'd put on my sunglasses instead of reading glasses.

Good'nPlenty

"Love my GOOD & PLENTY!  Really rings my bell!

One of my fav candies is Good n Plenty
... always has been.
Today, as a treat, I had a box!
Now, mind you, I have a naughty mind
(only from time to time -- honest!)
and when I shook these into my hand.....
well, you be the judge.
It had me grinning from ear to ear,
as couldn't have BN better timed......

GOOD & PLENTY candy was first produced by the Quaker City Confectionery Company in Philadelphia in 1893 and is the oldest branded candy in the United States. Choo Choo Charlie, the engineer who fueled his train with GOOD & PLENTY candy, first appeared in advertisements in 1950.
