Chilly Morn'

Chilly or not, I can't resist the sunshine!

It's Saturday morning,

frost on the neighbor's rooftop.

Ok... desert frost.

The morning dew shone white

in the early light!

Up early, as I always am,

it's a day of waiting for repairmen.

(Forgetting the cliche of older single women...)

It's the day for my semi-annual inspection of

my heat and air conditioning unit.  All's good

and ready for the summer temps!

Now I'm waiting for a dishwasher to be

delivered and installed.

Old Clothes

For a year now, I have put off cleaning out my closet.  Every gal (and guys, too!) keeps things in their closet, thinking 'some day' they'll fit into those skinny jeans, a fav shirt, a summer dress ....  and plus size gals go the other direction too -- keeping 'fat clothes' just in case.  And I'm no different.  I've got clothes in there that I haven't worn for several years, but kept "just in case..."

But no more.

So I delved into my closet before 7am, with a very determined attitude, and pulled out 4 garbage bags full of things that I never want to fit into again!

Weird, though, I really liked some of the things I had ... and even though I never wear this sweater because its too big, I've kept it all these years because I liked it, wearing it felt feminine.  So before I tossed it into the Goodwill bag, I thought one last picture of it for old times' sake .....

Here are a few thoughts that I read this morning on my SparkPeople page on the topic:

No one should allow the size of his or her clothes to determine their self-worth.

Only after you let go of the past can you learn to accept yourself in the present with self-confidence and a sense of empowerment.

By focusing on the positive and looking forward, you build greater confidence, which can increase your chances of success.

Today, I encourage you to open your closets and drawers. Gather everything that doesn’t fit you TODAY, especially clothes that are too small, and free yourself from the past and the silent criticism.

When I finally let go of my old clothes,
I realized that I was not the clothes
and the clothes were not me.

that couldn't have happened

“A person doesn't know

true hurt and suffering

until they've felt the pain

of falling in love

― Rose Gordon, Her Imperfect Groom

“I didn't call you because I'm tired of you only wanting me around when you need something.
I'm tired of watching you be in love with someone else -
someone, incidentally, who will never love you back.
Not the way I do.”
― Cassandra Clare, City of Glass

Sweater.2

“For so long, it was just my secret.
It burned inside me, and I felt like
I was carrying something important,
something that made me who I was
and made me different from
everybody else.

I took it with me everywhere,
and there was never a moment
when I wasn't aware of it.
It was like I was totally awake,
like I could feel every nerve ending
in my body. Sometimes my skin
would almost hurt from the force
of it, that's how strong it was.
Like my whole body was buzzing
or something. I felt almost noble,
like a medieval knight or something,
carrying this secret love around with me.”
-Carolyn Parkhurst, Lost and Found

Sweater

I stepped out into a chilly
morning to check my flowers,
hoping they weren't too cold
in the night air ........

..... Of course

I had to snap
a few pictures

..... for you :)

My series of pix this week are for and about
unrequited love - that love you have for
someone who can't return it back to you.

Think back to high school crushes,
a college friend you loved but never dated.
Me, I fell in love with my best friend.
But it wasn't meant to be.
and it still hurts.
