The End of the Day

At the end of the day,  tell yourself gently:

"I love you, you did the best you could today

and even if you didn't accomplish all you had planned,

I love you anyway."

Sometimes I get so busy

and so caught up

in the junk and the everyday stuff

that I forget to appreciate

all that I did today.

Instead, there are nights when

I lay in bed, thinking about all the

things that *didn't* get done.

Tonight, I'm happy with all that I did!

and tomorrow's another day.

Get Ready ....

I don't understand why people

have to "get ready" for bed --

I'm always ready for bed!

A typical Monday

means a long day

and extra busy at work.

When I get home

all I want to do is

collapse into bed!

A quick hello to Sadie,

a simple, filling meal,

a cooling shower

and yep, I'm ready for bed!!

Life's Curves

With very little time on my hands

for the next few weeks,

I had to stop a moment and post!

Sometimes, life throws you curves

most times, those curves aren't welcome,

But this week, I got one that IS!!

My co-worker Elvis was terminated.

It's been a long time coming.

Do I dare gossip a bit?

He liked to sit down to do his job,

and was told on Thursday that his job

is not a sit-down job.  Over the weekend,

he decided to use the rolling stool that

is used for doing paperwork - NOT actual work.

When they discovered what he was doing,

they terminated him.  His excuse?  He knew

he couldn't sit in a chair, but thought the stool would be OK.

He came back in today to ask for his job back.

DENIED!

Frankly, how could a grown man (of 68 years)

not understand that being talked to by management

meant business?!?!?

Peaceful

"I love the idea that everyone has a gift to give.

And I believe that the world is waiting for us to give it to them."

-Elle Luna

After a long stretch of work days,

ahhh, a day off feels so good!

It's been as quiet and peaceful

as it can get ... and that's how I like it!

If you're like me, you avoid all forms

of shopping!  I do what I must, but

never any more than that!

Wishing you peace, my friend!

Vacation's Over

Take chances, Make mistakes

Hello, my friend.

I'm back from my mini (working) vacation!

It's always nice to get away, even if it's so you

can work on your Mom's "honey do" list!

My son and I traveled to see her, and tackled her

list of trimming trees, painting a workbench,

running her around town on some errands,

we even got one step ahead and hung her

Christmas lights!  Yes, a little early, but that's

better than her climbing on a ladder outdoors!

It's not always nice coming back to work ....

all I can say is "ugh" and move on.  Do what I know

needs doing, and just not think about the rest.

I'm not a game player, so Elvis can ride back out

on the horse he rode in on, IMO.  I'm sure another

confab with management is in my future.

I keep wondering if these are signs that I'm meant

to make a change, to move on, find something else.

Only time will tell.

In the meantime, it's good to be home!!

Thanks for stopping by :)

Tuckered

Ohh.  Emm.  Gee.  All tuckered out.

Hello, and yes, it's about time I got

something posted!  It's been a really rough

two+ weeks.  So many changes with my

work status.  They changed my hours.

For 8 years, I've worked the 6-3pm shift.

They moved me to 7-4pm.

It's only an hour.  But it's making a huge

change in my life!  And I'm having a hard time

keeping up.  Literally up!  I'm ready for sleep by

7pm - I now force myself to stay awake until 8:30

so that I'm not awake at 4am, pacing floors.  lol

     ~~~~~>  It's hell getting old!  <~~~~~
My toe/foot is healing nicely, but taking it's sweet time.
With the swelling down, I can get into a shoe without
much discomfort, and while I hobble just a bit if I've
been sitting down for a while, once I get moving,
I'm good to go!
Thanks for thinking of me and stopping by!
Old School
Yes, I stole this piece of "advice" from
somewhere on the 'net.   Shame on me!
But it's good advice.   And every so often,
I need a reminder.
Pardon the look of this photo.  I have spent
the last two weeks immersed in family history.
So much has been digitized lately!
It's so exciting to find and share tidbits ---
my great grandfather ordered his farmhouse
from the Sears & Roebuck catalog!
Feeling my age, and looking at photos from .....
goodness!! Some of them are 100 years old now!
Yowza!
Have a wonderful week, my friend!
Some Days
Some days, she has no idea how she'll do it
But every single day it still gets done
Some days, life seems like more struggle
than it should be.  At my age, shouldn't
these be "golden years"??
Ahh well.  I'm busy and I just keep on going
Some days I come home feeling like I was
the Energizer Bunny, running without stopping.
I tell myself "this too shall pass" ...
Hello, friend, and thanks for checking on me!
Bye Bye Nightie
Hello, New Year!
Here's wishing that 2017
is better than ever!
While I am not making
any resolutions, I am
having a few vague goals
in mind:
to live happier and healthier
and more minimalistic.
A person accumulates so much stuff
over the years, and who needs it?
Of course, we'll never know what will be
some top dollar item in 2050 from our childhood
on the next version of Antique Roadshow
but who has the space to store the "what ifs" ??
Yes, I'll keep a few things that I know will
grow .... Boyd Bears, a set of Cooperstown Bears
(Yogi and Boo Boo of course!).  I have a signed
lithograph by Susan Koch, a few pieces of jewelry
that may increase, especially the native indian
turquoise pieces, a set of Nancy Drew books, 1959.
But I'm streamlining, downsizing,
or going minimalism - whatever you want to call it.
It gets old having all this 'stuff' around to deal with.
So here's an old nightie -- one photo shoot and
now it's in the trash!  No more taking up room in the drawer.
Being single since 2004, I'm not seeing a need for this
any time soon!   *giggle*
Throwbacks
A throwback from Nov 2012...
(because I can't post without a pic!)
Another Monday, and I'm tuckered as all get out.
I took off Thursday morning for a long drive to
Calif to see my mom.  A wrong turn, a roadside fire,
an accident, smelly cows ..... What's normally an
11 hour drive took 13.5 hours!
Always SO good to see family - even though it was
too short a visit.  I turned around and headed home
on Sunday ....  A major sporting event let out right as
I was cruising into town, add three separate accidents
and numerous extra bathroom stops (ugh - eating
foods that are different from the norm really get to me
now that I'm in my "golden years"...)  14 hours to get home.
It took a huge effort to haul my butt back into the car
to head to work this morning - where I found that not
much of my work that needs doing every day was done.
Which meant I was super busy all day.  Thank goodness,
or it would have been easy to fall into a nap  :)
Who's ready for the Holidays?
Seems like once one BigBox store stayed open on
Thanksgiving, now everyone is open as well.
Not only open, but starting their special deals for Friday
on that Thursday as well.  Lucky me, I'll be working
the 3-midnight shift.  Wonder how that will work,
considering my normal hours for sleep are 8-4am.
Hmmmm.
Be Yourself
to be yourself.
Be YOU
You just can't apologize for being you
nor for your emotional self,
nor for your intellectual self,
nor for spiritual self,
nor for your physical self.
It's all a part of who you are.
Hello readers!
October's been quite the month for this Gal
A trip home to see Mom
and things at work have escalated --
retail is getting ready for the Holi-daze!!
Not my fav time of year, to be sure.
Now that the heat has (mostly) dissipated
I'm trying to get out more,
walks with Sadie each evening.
I've also been following some of the less
mainstream shows on Netflix.
My two favs right now:  Skin Wars
and Texas Move and Flip.
The art of body paint speaks to my
creative side - and while I don't have the
body the folks do on this show, they DID
paint on some sumo wrestlers in one episode
and then drag queens in another episode.
A whole lotta fun and creativity flowing.
The Texas show I love because I really really
envy them being able to home renovate things.
My dream for years was to fix up an old house.
It didn't happen for me, but I'm working on the
fixer-uppers I can do in my own little house!
Snapped this while in California -
Mom just had to have a walk in the Redwoods!
Happy with Me!
Crowds.
Noise.
People.
These are the stresses, the triggers,
that drain me by the end of the day.
Go Shopping?  Go to a party?
Image result for quotes about "be yourself"
Those aren't things that bring me a lot
of joy or happiness.  Sure, I've done my
share of both,   But knowing now that I'm
a sensitive person, in an empath sort of way,
that looking back at the hours I would spend
at the mall - I was never in the center of things.
Parties?   You'd have labeled me a wallflower
back in the day.  And even just wall-sitting, I'd
go home exhausted, without knowing why.
It was easier not to go at all.
Thankfully as I get older, I don't go to parties,
or hang out at the mall, just to please a friend.
I go when I need to, or want to.  And the rest
of the time, I don't care if people label me "odd"
(or any other adjective) -- I'm happy being myself!
Rest
The Day is Done
The day is done,
and the darkness
Falls from the
wings of Night,
As a feather is
wafted downward
From an eagle
in his flight.
― H.W. Longfellow
I'm sitting here chuckling as I read this
I was looking for something about "rest"
and if any of you were fans of the Brady Bunch
as I was in the 70s, you'll recall this poem being
read by Mike Brady during a talent show,
while his sons accentuated parts of the poem
with humorous bits of reality .... in this first
stanza, someone drops feathers on his book.
Ok, I admit it, I'm nerdy to remember that skit.
You can watch it here ... its 3 minutes.
“There is virtue in work and there is virtue in rest.
Use both and overlook neither.”
― Alan Cohen
Curves
“It's my choice to be beautiful.
It's my choice to be ugly.
And it's my choice to decide what those words actually mean.”
― Virginia Petrucci
Busy week by choice
I am experimenting with
building a headboard
using old pallets.  lol
Bring on the power tools!
