Toes

here it is 8 days later ... and my toe is still swollen and listing off to the side.  Yeah, they're odd looking feet, but the right foot, middle toe has been swollen and sore to the touch for over a week -- broken or sprained, it was the dumbest thing.......

some nights Sadie doesn't settle down very well -- i think pugs by nature are a finicky sort -- and i had gotten up with her three different times after being put to bed.  Mind you, this was the week i was on a 5am-2 shift, and i needed every little zzzz i could grab!

When Sadie woke me for the umpteenth time, i marched to the back door to let her out, grabbing the knob and flinging the door open, smashing it right into my toe.  i think i saw stars!!!

Since i'm not the wimpy type, the next morning i hobbled out of bed, i shoved my foot into a shoe and limped my way through the next three days at work.  I even struggled through two days of workouts at the gym - but no running!  Over the weekend, i went barefoot and rested as much as possible.

It's still sore to the touch 8 days later, but at least i can walk without looking like a gimp!

Heart of the Sole

and while that's sweet sentiment, how often do we actually think about our feet?
They take us everywhere, they support our every move, every choice.
They don't complain (much) when we stuff them into high heels.
They don't ask for much - a slather of lotion every now and then
(along with a toenail clipping once in a while as well)
We stand, skip, jump, wade, waddle, run and hop.
And yet we sometimes take them for granted!
Next time you're in the shower, bend over!
(no, no not for that -- this time hehehe)
and give your feet a little extra care today.
They'll thank you for it!

Q&A - Who Knew?

some odd little tidbits....
as some of you know,
i go to the gym often,
on my own quest to lose
a few pounds
(no worries, I won't lose the curves!)

Today was special in that I hit a new goal:
total loss of 35 pounds since last March.
*pats herself on the back*

Humans are funny - we look in the mirror and see the person we always saw, not the new forms and shapes that happen when we work out, eat less, or do something else.  Having this blog has helped because i get to see a little bit of the progress through my photos (i still see the 'old' shape when i look in the mirror!)

i don't always shop well ... forgetting that my body is a different size now.  Every now and then i'll pull an old tshirt out of the drawer and slip it on and think wow, this thing's all stretched out! But a real measure for me hit me today:  I can wear my custom sized toe rings again!  I grabbed them out of my jewelry box and slipped them on easily, and went whoa.  Who knew toes get fatter or skinnier?  I haven't worn these toe rings since ... before 1998.  Damn, i'm proud of myself :) :) :)

of the joys I get when I'm feeling creative.  Or maybe it's
that it takes away from the time needed.  Either way,
I'm hoping things settle by the end of the month so I can
get back to feeling like myself again.

 It's bedtime .... and this weekend, I worked 19 out of 36 hours on a special project.  Which is why I chuckled when I read the quote by Doug Larson.  Some things are just too true these days.  And while its always nice to be recognized for what you do or know, it can also come back and bite you later!!  Even though work is a necessity for most of us, Lee Iacocca once said: "What is it that you like doing?  If you don't like it, get out of it, because you'll be lousy at it."  With that in mind, I like my job 95% of the time.  That other 5% though..... *grrr*grumble*grrr*cuss*grrrrr*

Ahhhhh, Shoes!!!

 Urban Dictionary says a shoe-head is someone who is in love with shoes, whether it's heels, boots or kicks. I'm not like some who pay a lot of money for brand name shoes, but when I see one, or two, that I like, I have a hard time passing them up. 

These will go great with ... just about anything!
