Beautiful Things

I just want to make

beautiful things

even if nobody cares.

I'm not sure who said that,

I saw it on a poster.  lol

But it's sort of what drives me.

I'm that way with my photos

and I'm that way with writing, too.

This summer, I'm combining those two

forms of creativity in my home life by

finding 3-4 photos that relate, then telling

the story, the memories, the moment.

Even if no one reads them, it's important

to me that they get written down.

I'm a huge genealogy freak, and have data,

dates, photos and assumptions about my ancestors,

and very little of the stories.

I want to leave a better legacy!

Get Creative

Creativity is the way I share my soul

with the world.

-Brene Brown

I started out my evening thinking

I'd just snap a couple of shots

and post something.

I sit down at my computer and start

looking at composition and every now

and then, a whim comes over me to do

a little more with the photo using some

of the creative elements built into my

editor.  Sometimes, the results are lousy

and I scratch it all.

Sometimes, they come out to my liking ---

hopefully to yours as well!

Scanners

Maybe this is a little out there,

but I found where someone was

making photos using their scanner.

And I thought hmmm.....  this could

get interesting!

A little sage, a little Moon Lagoon (eucalyptus)

from my backyard .....

Not sure what to think about this.

definitely wouldn't get any full body scan

out of my scanner!  lol

more practice might make it more interesting ....

any thoughts??

Art and Creativity

“Apply expectations appropriately.

Do not assume [all] adults

are as grown up and mature

as they should be,

or appear to be.”

― T.F. Hodge

Expectations can get a person all
confuzzled if you're not careful!

When I started this blog, it was
because I wanted to share my art
(and myself) with people who might
appreciate what I've tried to convey.

And maybe my own expectations have
gotten in the way of the pleasure I find
in being a creative person. I'm sure most
of you are on some sort of social media,
and you all have 'those friends' who post
anything and everything -- and keep track
of their own self worth by the number of
"likes" each post gets.  Totally not me.

It took a good friend to remind me of where
I started with this, and what I set out to do:
Be creative, create some art, and toss in
a bit of self expression on the side.

Thank you, my friend, for the reminder!
*hugs*
