On A Whim

On a whim, I picked up a bundle

of fall flowers to brighten my home.

Bloomin'

“Life doesn’t get easier

or more forgiving,

we get stronger

and more resilient.”

― Steve Maraboli,

A Yucca is known for

being strong and resilient.

Like me.

I've faced challenges,

and know that I'll face

even more for that's life.

But I never give up.

The state flower of

New Mexico, mine is blooming!

The flowers are also known as

"Lamps of the Lord"

And I'm a simple gal - thrilled when

one of my 'ugly' cactus plants bloom!!

Desert Living

“Somehow, we'll find it.

The balance between

whom we wish to be and

whom we need to be.

But for now, we simply

have to be satisfied

with who we are.”

― Brandon Sanderson

I walked Sadie into the

backyard just as the sun

disappeared beyond the

horizon.  The colors that

'bounce' after sunset

are often the most beautiful.

I'm not sure a camera or

photo can convey all that the

eye encompasses looking at

these astounding colors.

I love living in the desert!

Spring

“It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is.

And when you've got it, you want—oh,

you don't quite know what it is you do want,

but it just fairly makes your heart ache,

you want it so!”

― Mark Twain

Spring fever....
where you long to do things
you haven't done in a while,
to enjoy the warmth of sun.
I don't know about you,
but my "to do" list always
grows in spring!

Flowers

with so many working days in a row,

my flowers get the brunt of the neglect

forcing me to get out there and give

them the attention they need.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said:

The Earth laughs in flowers

isn't that neat?

Lavender

i've just recently planted some lavender in the garden, and ohhhhh how i enjoy it!  Being the curious sort, i had to look up things about lavender, to share:

Lavender is symbolic of magic, love,
protection, healing, and vision.

The most common meaning of the
Lavender flower is love and devotion.
Lavender flowers are also associated with
purity, silence and caution.
They also offer the promise of new adventure.

Lavender color is the color of feminity,
it represents
 grace, elegance, romance,
something unique and special.

Lavender color is associated with
spiritual healing and tranquillization.

A New Year...

the new year begins,
and we ponder the possibilities.....
like a box of crayons we received as a child,
the possibilities are endless!

In looking ahead, its always good to check
the past, see how far we've come.
i dug up pix from the past Januarys
as a starting point in my own journey.

Perhaps its time for a change in your job,
or you want to make yourself healthier,
maybe you'll set a personal goal to travel more,
to be kinder to your family,
to mend fences that are broken.
Or maybe its time to get back to
a habit or hobby that has been
put on a back burner.
Life is short -
too short to let it slip by.
my own personal challenge is to
do something for me every day.
we all have those things that
keep our time occupied.
Between work, our commute,
family obligations and the
normal chores of every day living,
we forget to take a moment
to admire a beautiful flower,
to watch the sun set, to soak up
some of nature's goodness,
to do something for ourselves
that bring us a little joy
each and every day.
for me, that sometimes is taking a photograph.
sometimes its something as simple as
enjoying a hot shower with extra bubbles,
or slathering on your favorite scented lotion.

There's joy and happiness to be found in every corner of our
lives, if only we're willing to take a moment, set aside the worries
and the irritations of the day and notice them!

Morning.3

"The front door

to springtime

is a photographer's

best friend. "

~Terri Guillemets

My flowers are beginning

to bloom, and birds

get up early to sing

their morning song

when the sun shines!

Flowers 2

 Bread feeds the body, indeed,

but flowers feed also the soul.

~The Koran

Flowers have an expression of countenance as much as men or animals.  Some seem to smile; some have a sad expression; some are pensive and diffident; others again are plain, honest and upright, like the broad-faced sunflower and the hollyhock.  ~Henry Ward Beecher

Flowers

How can one
help shivering
with delight
when one's
hot fingers
close around
the stem
of a live flower,
cool from
the shade
and stiff with
newborn vigor!
~Colette
