“You’ll learn, as you get older, that rules are made to be broken.

Be bold enough to live life on your terms, and never, ever apologize for it.

Go against the grain, refuse to conform,

take the road less traveled instead of the well-beaten path.

Laugh in the face of adversity, and leap before you look.

Dance as though EVERYBODY is watching.

March to the beat of your own drummer.

And stubbornly refuse to fit in.”

― Mandy Hale

Here we are at my
1000th post!

It's been quite a journey -
thank you for traveling along with me

Sunny Morning

I love early mornings when I feel like a rest of the world is fast asleep

and you’re the only one who’s awake

and everything feels like it isn’t really real

and you kind of forget about all your problems

because for now it’s just you, the world and the sunrise.

That's exactly how I feel each morning
when Sadie and I take our walk,
the sun just beginning to rise......

Today, an early morning sunny silhouette!
The sun is bright and intense
here in the Valley of the Sun
from June until October.

The sun rises in a different corner
of "east" than it does in the winter
which makes for a good silhouette
in my bedroom window.

Lacy Panties

I think lingerie plays a big part

in how you carry yourself.

--Nicole Rickie

You can tell a lot about a person

from her underwear.

-Rachel Bilson

I saw both these quotes
and I couldn't help but laugh
at myself

Yes, I have some nice lingerie.
Yes, I put it on, on occasion.
Or I used to.

But if you can tell a lot about a person
from her underwear......
what does simple colored cotton
say about me?

I know that when it comes to
lace and lingerie
it's rare to find that any of it is
actually comfortable.
Or maybe manufacturers don't make
it that way for a pluscious woman.

To me, the lace is scratchy, and the
fit doesn't allow you much movement.
And for me, in my job, I need to be
comfy, be able to move, and the fabric
has to breathe.

When I work, I work hard.
And there's no way I have time to
pinch, twist or rearrange my undies
every time I move around!

In the Pink

“Pink is a beautiful color,

because it is one of the colors

that the sun makes at twilight and in the dawns.”

― C. JoyBell C.

Both twilight and dawn
are my fav times of day.

Between dawn and twilight
is a lot of time usually filled
with work, chores, duties
to be fulfilled.

But at dawn when I walk with Sadie,
the world is just waking up.
There is a peaceful harmony,
a promise of a new day.

And twilight, the day's end,
a time for reflecting on the day:
Did I do my best?
Do I have regrets how I spent my time?

People are less intense,
more peaceful, at dawn and twilight.

Last Rays

Evening's Last Rays

Today I was thinking about age, time and
who we are based on where we've been.
How did I become the way that I am?

It came to me recently that I live my life
by the motto I was raised on:
"Work before play"

But in this day and age, is work ever done?
Not just your work on the job, but then there's
work on your home, and perhaps the things you
choose for your non-work hours.  Maybe you
volunteer - sometimes that can feel like a job, too!

If you never feel your work is done,
when is it time for play?

As I age, I'm learning to let go of more,
and to make time for play, even if it's only
a few moments here and there throughout
my day.

Get up, go out, catch the evening's last rays --
It's important!

“She never felt like she belonged anywhere,

except for when she was lying on her bed,

pretending to be somewhere else.”

― Rainbow Rowell

a dreamy little pix

and then this quote appeared

and it was like they were meant

for each other.

I don't know about you,

but there are times when I've felt

this way, imagining me being in some

other place, or more often, in some other time.

I've often wondered strange things, like

"Was I born in the wrong time?"  It sometimes

feels that way.  I'm not comfortable with a lot of

the way things are, all the people rushing around

from here to there.  I'm a home-body, always

have been.  I think I get that from my Dad.

Mom was always the social one, but Dad?

Happy to be at home every night, with his family.

He was always a man of few words.

I'm just like him.

Until I get to writing.   *laughs*

Sports, Anyone?

The Blue and Gold

are my way of rooting for the

Golden State Warriors

in tonight's game against

the Cleveland Cav's.

I'm all tucked up in bed and

ready to watch a good game!

I enjoy sports, but don't get to watch

them often as I refuse to pay for

Cable TV.  My only splurge in

that direction is Netflix.  hehehe

Hot Summer Nights

With any luck,

our heat wave is abating

not forever, as this IS Arizona

and summer's here.

In full force!

We've broken records for

4+ days straight.

Thank goodness the humidity

is only 5-8% !

After work, I dash home

and peel off the work jeans and polo

and find something comfy to slip into.

This gem of a nightie is soft and

feels great against my skin.

Nekkid is great, but when I'm

outside, brushing up against something

that's been in a full afternoon heat with

temps over 110F could cause burns!

I laugh when I see this......

because yes, it's a dry heat!

Little Moments

Some days, it's not easy to

keep this in mind.  Especially in

places where there are others

commanding your attention,

your time, and sometimes

invading your space.  (like work. ugh)

My little moments tend to be

in the quietness of my own space,

my own house, my backyard,

even my bedroom.

I'm at an age where I am quite

comfortable being with myself

and my thoughts, doing whatever

it is that I feel like doing.

Or not doing.

Be Confident

“Because one believes in oneself,

one doesn't try to convince others.

Because one is content with oneself,

one doesn't need others' approval.

Because one accepts oneself,

the whole world accepts him or her.”

Swimsuit Season

It's officially summer here in the

Valley of the Sun;  temps over 100 for

the past 3 days.  Wowza, we don't usually

get this heat until after July 4th.

Because I can't walk Sadie after work,

and she gets kinda bored without a walk,

I decided to move her kiddie pool into

the kitchen.   lol  At least she's getting

a little bit of entertainment.

Happy Weekend!

Thank You, Feet!

My feet are made for walking;

they take me here and there,

up the hills and down again,

they take me everywhere!

Lately, life has been busy,
and one of the things I've wondered
is "How much walking do I actually do?"

I bought myself a FitBit just to see that
very thing ... and let me tell you, I put on
some miles!   I average just over 10k steps
a day -- a really busy day is aobut 12k and
my best day ever was over 17k.  When you
think about it, that's wearing out a lot of shoes!

I started tracking back in September and since then:

Yearly Totals
2,513,944 steps for a total of 1,101.44 miles

Do you do a lot of walking?
If you do, you're like me and you've learned
to appreciate every step your feet can carry you!

Black and Whilte

Experiment #207,591,003

I'm attempting a look I have in

my mind, and not quite achieving it - yet!

Sure, I could probably manipulate it

with some photoshopping technique

but isn't it the ultimate goal of a

photographer to be able to make

beautiful photos without

digital enhancements?

Music for the Soul

“Music, once admitted to the soul,

becomes a sort of spirit, and never dies.”

― Edward Bulwer-Lytton

I have always wondered about the differences

in people's stirring of the soul when they hear

For me, it touches deeply.   When a song is sung

with passion or a lot of emotion, for me it's as if

it goes straight into my soul.  I collect music

and always have.  People ask "What genre?"

For me, it doesn't matter.  If the song moves me,

then it's on my list!   I'm partial to country --

because I was raised on it, it feels like coming home.
