Stars

...we all shine on,

like the moon,

and the stars,

and the sun.

Good'nPlenty

"Love my GOOD & PLENTY!  Really rings my bell!

One of my fav candies is Good n Plenty
... always has been.
Today, as a treat, I had a box!
Now, mind you, I have a naughty mind
(only from time to time -- honest!)
and when I shook these into my hand.....
well, you be the judge.
It had me grinning from ear to ear,
as couldn't have BN better timed......

GOOD & PLENTY candy was first produced by the Quaker City Confectionery Company in Philadelphia in 1893 and is the oldest branded candy in the United States. Choo Choo Charlie, the engineer who fueled his train with GOOD & PLENTY candy, first appeared in advertisements in 1950.

Busy weekend for me,
filled with work,
housework,
and a trip to
the beauty salon.

Here I am, catching
the last few rays of the day,
warming my old bones,
and feeding my soul
with some much needed sunshine
as I do one of my favorite things:
chatting on IRC.    :)

Puzzle Pieces

The world

comes to us

in an endless stream

of puzzle pieces

that we would

all fit together

somehow,

but that in fact

never do.

Love Unreturned

Let no one

who loves

be unhappy...

even love

unreturned

has its rainbow.

~J.M. Barrie

Sometimes I share and bare all here,
but flesh is only a portion of me.
Sharing words, or thoughts,
means I  expose other parts to you, readers;
making myself more vulnerable.
and much more human.

~ Alexandra Ivy

Usually, its young girls who play dress-up,
but every now and then,
its fun and sexy,
to slip into something a little risque,
to feel the satin against your skin,
the silkiness of the stockings on your legs.
It can change the entire attitude of a woman
in a few short minutes.
Especially if there's a man
to admire,
savor,
treasure,
enjoy it.

Stockings

There is something

incredibly

arousing

about a

woman

in stockings

and heels.

What is it
about a woman in stockings
that turns men on so much?

Maybe it's just that women
don't wear them often enough.

in your soul,

I don't usually do a lot of edits
to my photos,
but I took liberties with
this black and white set
to make them look aged.

Garter Belt

THE

GARTER

BELT

Garter belts were designed in the 1920s as an alternative to uncomfortable and restricting corsets.  Women could just slip into a belt and attach their nylons directly to it, instead of to a corset or girdle. This was important because during the 1920's, large numbers of women abandoned the confining corsets; thus was born the flapper, who scandalized the previously staid fashion scene.  The glamour of stockings also evokes the 1940s and 50s and the golden age of sensual Hollywood femme fatales.

Since the early 1960s, when men's magazines featured images of women in underwear, they have acquired an erotic element.  Why does the slightest glimpse of a lacy stocking top, a taut suspender or a naked thigh above the stocking turn men mad with desire?  What is it about suspender belts, garter belts and their intoxicating effect on males?  I think it's all about contrasts. Black stocking against white thigh. Even long black gloves can be a male turn on when covering a white arm.

Stockings and garter belts can play roles in erotic fantasy.  Some women will include garter belts as part of a sexual fetish costume. They are usually made of lace or other silky material. They are considered to be part of lingerie and they come in variety of styles and colors. Generally speaking, if the desired effect is achieved, they don’t stay on too long.  Even though panty hose and tights have taken the place of garter belts and stockings, garter belts continue to be worn. They are considered a reflection of their enduring role in erotic fantasy.  For women who like dressing seductively for their partners, garter belts have a lasting place in modern history.

(Just a little history, in case you're interested
in more than just a picture.  hehehee)

IceCream

I scream, You scream,
we all scream for ice cream!

Remember being a kid and learning that?
No matter how old we get,
ice cream is a really good treat!
Today, I finished work early, and even left early!
And I couldn't think of a better way to start the weekend
than with a little self indulgent treat!

The PhoneCall

 "Hello?" she says
as her phone rings
unexpectedly

Hi, I'm looking

"This is she..."

...and thinks to herself
"I know this voice.."

It wasn't a long conversation...
just some friendly words --
I was a bit nervous, and I'm
always shy at first anyways......

I must admit..........
I was shocked...
and also thrilled...

you can actually hug on the phone?

Solitude

We live in a very tense society.

We are pulled apart...

and we all need to learn

how to pull ourselves together....

I think that at least part of the answer

lies in solitude.

~Helen Hayes

Some days,
there is quiet solitude
in a good book,
taking my portraits,
or just pulling up a chair
to sit and watch the day.

Q & A - 2

Every now and then, you can catch a glimpse of my dragonfly tattoo.

This was my gift to myself for my 50th Birthday.   I thought long and hard about getting a tat, as this would be permanent, and us females tend to associate things with an emotion, or a person, and I wanted one that was "just me".  I wavered back and forth for a long time before I decided on it.

When I moved here to the Valley of the Sun, I started learning about Animal Totems and what they mean, as part of the Native Indian culture that's prevalent around here.  And Dragonfly is one of them.

*The dragonfly has a beautiful, jewel-like coloring. The bright colors take time to develop, reflecting the idea that with maturity our own true colors come forth.
*Dragonflies remind us that we are light and can reflect the light in powerful ways if we choose to do so. Life is never quite the way it appears, but is always filled with light and color.
*Dragonflies are also creatures of the water, and any creature whose habitat is in, or around water carries symbolism relative to the subconscious, or "dreaming" mind and thoughts.
*Dragonflies carry messages that deal with deeper thought - and they ask that we pay attention to our deeper thoughts and desires.

Reach beyond your boundaries
Keep your dreams
 strength, peace, harmony, purity.
faith, overcoming obstacles, trust
Seek out habits to change.

What made me focus on Dragonfly?  It was an early Sunday morning walk around a lake at a local park; the sun was already warm on my skin, and I was pondering things that weren't going the way I hoped.  I caught a glimpse of a dragonfly, and as I walked, zipping around as they do, this one followed with me half way around the lake.  Within a short time, things had turned, and I was able to buy a house. Life can work out funny sometimes.  Because of a dragonfly?  Maybe not, but it's nice to believe there are things that cannot be explained. :)

Courage

Yesterday
I posted a series of pix
and didn't post this one.
I had doubts.
and fears.
about posting it at all.

Today I had
second thoughts.

One of the joys
of doing this blog
is the anonymity
that's afforded me.
So I decided to post it.

but rather the judgement that something else

Light Play

To see a world in a grain of sand,

And a heaven in a wild flower,

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,

And eternity in an hour.

    ~William Blake

(Thank You for helping with the quote!)

It was a delightful afternoon

full of afternoon sun

warm on my skin.

I attempted a few pix

and viewed them on the computer

and wasn't .... thrilled.

So I sat in my rocker,

looking out the front window,

waiting for inspiration.

Funny how a shaft of light,

something we take for granted at times,

can be  inspiration.

Toes

“Some men know
that a light touch of the tongue,
running from a woman's toes
to her ears,
lingering
in the softest way possible
in various places in between,
given often enough
and sincerely enough,
would add immeasurably
to world peace”
~Marianne Williamson

Lately, the busy-ness of life has taken away from some
of the joys I get when I'm feeling creative.  Or maybe it's
that it takes away from the time needed.  Either way,
I'm hoping things settle by the end of the month so I can
get back to feeling like myself again.
Thanks for peeking in !  ~Gal

Dream Blue

Dream, when you're feeling blue

Dream, that's the thing to do

So dream when the day is through

Dream, and they might come true
(Excerpt from the song;
words and music written by
Johnny Mercer in 1944.)

Although I'm sure the 'blue'
was more about feelings
than the color of lingerie ...
